Juliane Solmsdorf (Berlin, 1977, lives and works in Berlin

She studied fine arts in Berlin and Paris. For her new works Juliane Solmsdorf focuses on the tradition of Quiltmaking. The very different sized quilts are made from used and vintage fabrics and are all handmade, as well as with so-called "slow hand stitches" completed. This creates unique items that can be wall objects, blankets or throws. Each quilt has a front and back side and is padded with a cotton fleece.

The new materials which are needed come from ecological production.

The focus is therefore on the recycling of existing and discarded, as well as vintage textiles, which have a significant influence on the designs, as well as the redefinition and further development of the long and internationally very popular tradition of quilting.
